Fringed Pinks Mixture produces a beautiful display of colorful, frilly flowers in shades of pink, purple & white. The plants grow to a mature height of roughly 12 to 20 inches tall and are easily established in the first growing season. Categorized as a biennial / perennial flowering plant, Fringed Pinks, Dianthus will establish a deep root system. The plants will grow until the first killing frost, wilting away on the surface, only to return the following growing season.
This mixture of beautiful Fringed Pinks flowers will attract all sorts of beneficial insects to the garden, such as butterflies, bumblebees, ladybugs & hummingbirds. Fringed Pinks is a great plant to use in flower beds, raised beds, along fences, driveways & walkways and even in containers as well. This versatile Wildflower mixes well with other Dianthus flowers and can be used in wildflower mixtures as well.
Sowing The Seed
Fringed Pinks wildflowers are best established directly outdoors when the weather is warm and all danger of frost has passed. Begin by clearing your sowing area of all unwanted plant life and weeds. Turn the dirt or replace it with new dirt. Scatter the small black seeds to the surface of the soil, allowing direct light to reach the seeds. It's best to do this on a calm day as the seeds will require this direct light to properly germinate.
Fringed Pinks Wildflowers enjoy an area that receives full sunlight for the majority of the day, with temperatures of around 65F to 70F. This beautiful wildflower adapts to many soil conditions from sandy to rich, but requires a well drained medium. To increase drainage, we recommend adding a light compost to any areas that consist of hard, compact soil. Water daily with a light water setting until germination occurs.
Germination & Growth
Seeds will begin to germinate within 14 to 28 days after sowing. The plants will reach a mature height of around 36 to 48 inches tall and can be spaced about 12 to 18 inches apart from one another. Wild Bee Balm produces lavender pink colored blooms that attract an array of beneficial insects including bumblebees & butterflies.
