There's nothing quite like the beautiful scent of a freshly cut Carnation flower. Carnations come in an array of colors, and display beautiful, ruffled blooms atop long slender stems. Their 1.5 to 2 inch blooms will lure in the butterflies, bees and hummingbirds and come in shades of white, yellow, pink, purple, red and rose.
Snip the stems 10 to 12 inches from the main flowers and add them to vases, bouquets and floral arrangements. Carnations are easy to establish and maintain, allowing you to plant them just about anywhere in the garden. The average Carnation plant grows anywhere between 12 and 24 inches tall.
