Description

Grow Imperial Mixed, Rocket Larkspur from fresh Delphinium consolida flower seeds. Rocket Larkspur, Imperial Mixture consists of a several colors including, pink, blue, lavender, rose and white. The plants themselves grow to a mature height of about 12 to 36 inches tall. Each stem produces rows of fluffy blooms that are roughly 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.

Categorized as an annual flowering plant, Rocket Larkspur will grow quickly, bloom profusely and later die with the first frost. Rocket Larkspur is known as a generous re-seeder, and will more than likely establish the following year from seeds that drop to the bare ground beneath. This colorful mixture is also known to bring in an array of beneficial insects as well, such as butterflies, bumblebees, hummingbirds & ladybugs.

These attractive plants can be used in many floral arrangements and bouquets as it makes an excellent cut flower. Because they grow to a taller height, they are best used along fences, walls & in the back of borders.

Sowing The Seed

Rocket Larkspur seeds are best sown directly outdoors in the garden, when the weather is warm and all danger of frost has passed. Begin by removing all unwanted plant life from the sowing area. Turn the dirt, or place new dirt in this area. Scatter the seed to the surface of the soil, covering thinly with about 1/16" of topsoil.

Growing Conditions

Rocket Larkspur enjoys an area of full sunlight for the majority of the day, with temperatures around 60F or above. The soil should be kept moist, however it will also need to be kept well drained as well. Adding a light compost to any area that consists of hard, compact soil will increase drainage. Water the seeds daily so that the soil is moist until germination has occurred.

Germination & Growth

Your Rocket Larkspur seeds will begin to germinate within 14 to 21 days after sowing. the plants themselves will reach a mature height of 12 to 36 inches tall and can be spaced about 12 to 18 inches apart from one another. Once established, the plants will produce attractive, fluffy blooms in shades of pink, blue, lavender, rose and white. Each Flower is about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.

Broadcasted these back in the fall in prepared beds zone 10a. They have popped up and are now about 2 1/2 feet tall March 1. Look forward to the blooms, and excellent germination. I appreciate the amount of seeds in the pack.
