Basket of Gold Alyssum (Aurinia saxatilis) is a vibrant, low-growing annual that brings a burst of sunshine to gardens with its clusters of tiny, golden-yellow flowers. Blooming in spring, it forms a dense, cascading mat, making it ideal for rock gardens, borders, or ground cover. Thriving in well-drained soil and full sun, this hardy plant is drought tolerant and attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies. Its evergreen foliage adds year-round interest, while its cheerful blooms create a stunning contrast against gray-green leaves.

GROWERS TIP

Alyssum is extremely easy to grow from seed and can be started indoors, or directly outdoors. If starting indoors, sow 3 to 5 seeds per starter pot, 6 to 8 weeks prior to the last frost. Transplant or direct sow in the spring when temperatures are at least 65°F and all danger of frost has passed. Once the plants are well established they are quite drought resistant and deer resistant as well.
