Black-Eyed Susan Vine, Mixed Colors(Thunbergia alata) - Grow Thunbergia seeds for this incredible climber! Commonly called Black-Eyed Susan vine, this tender perennial is evergreen in zones 10 and warmer, and where it is grown as a perennial, it can reach heights of 20 feet. In cooler areas where there are winter frosts, grow Thunbergia vine as an annual, sowing the Thunbergia seeds each spring. This vine brightly displays 1 1/2 inch flowers in multicolor blooms of yellow, white and orange. The simple blooms have 5 petals and surround a brownish purple center. The lush foliage and profuse blooming make this a rewarding plant to grow in any summer landscape.

SOWING THE SEED

It is recommended to soak your seeds in warm water for 24 hours prior to sowing. If started indoors, sow in biodegradable CowPots 6 to 8 weeks prior to the last frost. Sow the seeds at a depth of 1/4" under. Transplant or direct sow in the garden when the weather is warm.

GROWING CONDITIONS

Prefers an area of full sunlight for the majority of the day. Keep temperatures above 75F and provide them with a well drained soil. To improve drainage, we recommend adding a light compost to your soil. Water daily until germination has occurred.

GERMINATION & GROWTH

Your seeds will begin to germinate within 10 to 20 days after sowing. Thunbergia will reach a length of 20' long. Plants can be spaced about 8 to 12 inches apart from one another. The plants produce flowers in shades of yellow and orange all Summer long.
