Zinnias are one of the most popular flowers in butterfly gardens. Their large blooms make it easy for butterflies to land on them and their colors will attract other beneficial insects to the garden as well. The plants grow to a mature height of roughly 30 to 40 inches tall. Zinnias make an excellent cut flower.
Zinnias are considered an annual flowering plant. Annuals will grow quickly from freshly harvested flower seeds, producing their blooms through the Summer months. Once they are in full bloom, you can prolong their blooms by deadheading. Once the Autumn season arrives, the flowers will go to seed and the plants will later wilt with the first frost.
