Grow our Crazy Sunflower Mixture of Sunflowers from freshly harvested Helianthus annus flower seeds. Crazy Sunflower Mixture is a combination of our most popular sunflower varieties. It consists of 15+ Sunflower varieties, including customer favorites such as: Autumn Beauty, Velvet Queen, Lemon Queen, Red Sun, Evening Colors and more. This particular blend of seeds will produce flowering plants that grow to a varying height of 4' to over 7' tall, in colors of red, yellow & orange and will even produce bi-colored blooms. Grown as an annual flowering plant, Sunflowers will grow quickly, bloom profusely and later die with the first killing frost.

Sunflowers are best sown outdoors as a border plant, along fences, or in fields by the masses. They will bloom throughout the summer months and seeds can be collected at the end of the season. Take note however, that unless you create something such as a scare crow, the flower heads may be under attack by your neighborhood squirrels.

Sunflowers are not particularly fond of being transplanted, but if started indoors, sow in peat pots, 6 to 8 weeks prior to the last frost. Sow at a depth of 1/2” under topsoil. Transplant entire pots into the garden, or direct sow when the weather is warm and all danger of frost has passed. Stakes may be necessary to support your Sunflowers, only until the stems become strong enough to stand on their own.

Sunflowers grow long taproots and may rot if the roots become waterlogged. It is recommended to check your sowing area for hard, compacted soil prior to sowing. Renew any hard, compacted soil with a mixture of compost. Sunflowers will enjoy an area of full sunlight for the majority of the day and should be watered daily so that the soil is kept moist until germination has occurred.

Your Sunflower seeds will begin to germinate within 7 to 10 days after sowing. The plants will grow to a mature height of 4' to 7' feet tall (or more) and can be spaced about 6 to 12 inches apart from one another. Sunflowers are annual flowering plants that come in all sorts of rustic colors of yellow, red, orange and burgundy.
