Our edible roots and bulbs collection is filled with 6 different varieties of heirlooms which include Beetroots, Carrots, Kohlrabi, Radish, Rutabaga and Turnips. Each are a beautiful shade of deep burgundy red or purple and go great in all sorts of culinary dishes.

COSMIC CARROT
(800 Seeds)

Cosmic Purple Carrots produce a deliciously sweet, yet somewhat spicy root. They can be consumed raw and added to salads for an extra splash of purple coloring. Aptly named, Cosmic Purple carrots have purple skin and orange flesh within. Growing to a mature length of about 7 inches long, these carrots can be harvested in roughly 70 days after first sprouts appear.

PURPLE KOHLRABI
(500 Seeds)

Purple Vienna is an heirloom vegetable, which forms purple colored bulbs, with a white colored flesh. They boast a turnip-cabbage type flavoring, and display leaves above its bulbs, which are green to purple in appearance. Purple Vienna bulbs usually measure in at 2 or 3 inches in diameter, and grow under foliage that grows about 18 inches tall.

PURPLE TOP RUTABAGA
(800 Seeds)

Purple Top Rutabaga is a cool weather vegetable that produces 3 to 6 inch roots & is best grown in early to late fall. These nutty & sweet flavored roots offer a hint of turnip spice and can be baked, fried, sautéed, boiled, mashed, or added to stews & soups as well. Purple Top rutabaga is also enjoyed raw & makes a great addition to salads and coleslaw when grated.

PURPLE TOP TURNIP
(800 Seeds)

Purple Top White Globe is an heirloom variety of Turnip, which produces 4 to 6 inch roots. For obvious reasons, Purple top gets its named from its appearance. The top of its roots are a dull purple, while the rest of the root is a creamy white color. Each Turnip plant will reach a mature height of roughly 12 to 15 inches tall. Both the roots and the leaves can be used from this variety. Harvest in about 55 days.

CHIOGGIA BEETROOT
(250 Seeds)

Chioggia is an heirloom variety that has been in circulation since the early 1800's. Its outer skin is a bright red, while its inner flesh is candy-striped in appearance. Cut in half, the innards look just like a bull's-eye, with alternating red-white rings. The roots grow to a good 2 to 3 inches in diameter, sitting beneath 12 inch, leafy greens on the surface. Both the roots and the actual greens can be eaten. The tops, as well as the bottoms are used in salads.

PURPLE PLUM RADISH
(500 Seeds)

Purple Plum is an heirloom variety of Radish which produces roots that measure 1 to 2 inches in diameter. The outer skin is purple, while its inner flesh is a solid white. Purple Plum Radishes go great with other colored radishes and also add a splash of color to boring salads as well. The roots can be harvested in roughly 30 days.
