Peppermint Stick Zinnia (Zinnia elegans) produces vibrant 2-4 inch double blooms with a playful mix of cream, yellow, pink, and white petals, each uniquely striped or speckled with red, rose, purple, or orange. These eye-catching flowers, reminiscent of candy canes, make stunning cut flowers for bouquets and attract butterflies and pollinators. Easy to grow and heat-tolerant, they bloom profusely from summer to frost, adding a festive pop of color to gardens, borders, or containers.

GROWERS TIP

Zinnias are native to South America, which means they will thrive in the heat and sunlight. Plant them on the edge of your garden to allow them to spread out when pinched back. The term “pinching back” simply means to snip the zinnia at a lower leaf node prior to it flowering. This will allow the plant to spend more energy in creating multiple branches, thus rewarding you with more blooms later on. As a side note, zinnias become more drought tolerant as they grow stronger.
