Description

Sunflowers are a staple of the Summer months and are also one of our best sellers as well. We have put together an assortment that contains 6 of our most popular varieties of Sunflowers, just for all of the Sunflower lovers out there! Included are branching varieties, as well as single stemmed varieties.

Sunflowers are easily grown from freshly harvested Helianthus annuus seeds. The plants grow to a collective height of over 5 feet tall and will produce many shades of red, orange and yellow. Each plant displays medium to large sized heads, accented with dozens of large, spade shaped leaves. Sunflowers are known to attract all sorts of beneficial insects to the garden, such as butterflies, bumblebees, honeybees and even hummingbirds as well.

Helianthus annuus is categorized as an annual flowering plant, meaning that the plants will grow quickly from freshly harvested seeds. The plants then bloom for a short period of time, to later die with the first killing frost. If the sunflower heads are allowed to dry out, you can collect the seeds for resowing the following year. Just be sure to watch out for birds and squirrels, as they will be after the seeds as well!
