Sowing The Seed
Verbena Moss is easily established directly in the garden, or started indoors as well. If starting indoors, sow the seeds in peat pots, 6 to 8 weeks prior to the last frost, at a depth of 1/16" under topsoil. Transplant entire peat pots into the garden, once the weather is warm, or direct sow when all danger of frost has passed.
Growing Conditions
Verbena Moss, for the most part, is drought and heat tolerant, so they can be placed in an area of full sunlight. They will require a soil that is average to sandy and infertile. Just make sure that the sowing medium is also well drained as well. To improve drainage, we recommend adding a light compost to areas containing hard, compact soil. Mist the seedlings daily with a spray bottle or mist setting, until germination occurs.
Germination & Growth
Lobelia seeds will begin to germinate within 7 to 14 days after sowing. Cascade Mixture will produce plants that grow to a mature height of roughly 6 to 10 inches tall, trailing roughly 10 to 12 inches. The plants are best sown in pots, containers & hanging baskets, but can also do very well in rock gardens as well. The flowers are small and come in a range of colors, such as red, lavender, white, blue & purple.
